This project began as an exciting collaboration between two artists working in seemingly disparate and differing ways but sharing overarching themes in their work of narrative, beauty and the extraordinary.
Chantal Powell creates objects and installations that intimately explore the universal emotions that connect us. A social psychology PhD informs her work as an artist. She has exhibited throughout the UK and internationally, notably at the 53rd and 54th Venice Biennales.
Dean Melbourne is a painter that explores the human need or desire to escape reality. Exhibitions include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2009 and 2010 and a current solo show at Bryant Priest Newman in Birmingham.
Anneka French will be curating The Fall Of The Majestic alongside its contributors and locations.French is a writer and curator specialising in contemporary art based in Birmingham. She has curated a number of independent projects including two series of public intervention works in conjunction with Cornerhouse and IKON. French has worked in the exhibitions department at Tate Modern providing curatorial support for Per Kirkeby, and Theo Van Doesburg, and worked on a range of exhibition projects during her time as Assistant Curator at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
